How Not To Ruin Your First Dinner Party
With the current economy it is not easy to be a socialite without incurring a lot of expenses. Because of that, dinner parties at home have been making a comeback. Suddenly people are inviting their friends over to socialize at their home so that they can save on costs. Doing an event at home for the first time may be somewhat intimadating though.
Throwing a dinner party is not nearly as difficult as you may think. It doesn't need to be anything super fancy. And you don't need to serve from fancy dinner sets, you can use good looking but on the cheap side Noritake dinnerware as well. Remember that the main goal of your event should be the time spent talking with each other, having a great time.
When deciding to throw your first dinner party you must remember that entertaining should be fun. Let go of the idea that you are supposed to be a five star chef. You don't need to be a Food Network celebrity to be able to succeed in creating an impressive event. No need to worry about mistakes. Instead, focus on the food that you are going to serve, the atmosphere that you are going to create, and the fun that you are going to have with your guests.
In order for your party to succeed you need to plan ahead. Make a list of things to buy: food you will be serving, decorations, serveware that you'll need. Make sure also that you have more than enough dinnerware sets for all of the invited, dinnerware in the same vein of my personal favorite for such parties, Noritake Color-wave. When preparing the selection of dishes, pick some that you could prepare without having to wait for the last moment. This should help you to do things at their proper time and not all together as you make the preparations for the event. Remember to choose wisely the music that will play in the background of your party. Good music can really help to set the tone for your evening.
While there is a lot to prepare on the day of the grand event, don't fret, it will only get in your way. About two hours before your event you will want to find a stopping point so that you can take a break to get yourself dressed. You may not want to stop, but it is important to take those few moments for yourself. This will ensure that you are prepared and ready for when your guests arrive. Take care to greet each one of your guests as they arrive, make sure they have something to drink, and introduce them to some other guests.
After your guests have arrived you need to simply relax and let the evening happen. As the host you are truly the one that sets the stage for the evening, so allow yourself to truly enjoy your time with your guests, and before you know it everyone will be having the time of their lives.
